Whenever I walk into MAC to gaze at all the makeup, I always feel more than a little out of my league when I speak to the makeup artist. Not because of their flawless skin or their eyeliner. But because of no matter how hard I try, I can never make my eye shadow look as perfect as theirs. So I managed to ask them out of my shyness about how to apply eye shadow properly.
Here are some 5 amazing steps
- Prepare your eyes with concealer (base)
Concealer can be used to cover up under eye dark circles. Apply three dots of concealer under each eye properly. Start at the inner corner where skin tends to be darkest of all, and then continue to the outer edge. Pat, Never ever rub with your ring finger (this finger tends to have the softest pad) until the concealer disappears.
- Apply the eye shadow primer on your lid
For how to apply eye shadow properly, eye shadow primer is the big secret to keeping your shadow in place for hours. If your eye shadow later ends up a greasy pool in your crease, you should invest in agood expensive eye shadow primer. This base will keep eye shadow in place with respect to all your workouts, events and even a night’s sleep
- Blend in the darker color at your crease
Blend in a darker shade to your crease, starting from the inner side of the eye with a thinner line growing thicker as it extends to the outside of the crease. Make sure it matches and blends. If you have a 3-color (pattern) palette, choose the darkest color. If you have bought a 4-color (pattern) palette, choose the 3rd darkest in order to learn how to apply eye shadow properly.
- Add up highlighter above the crease
If you feel your eyes still need more color, then you can take the lightest color in your eye shadow palette and blend it in just above your crease. Try to keep the color off the brow bone and lighter shades are always better. If you watch makeup videos, you will see that just how important blending is when it comes for how to apply eye shadow properly. Both the lids need to match each other and you want the colors to look like a beautifully blended rainbow, blending from the light to dark to light again vice versa
- Finally lighter shade into the corner of the eye
To open up eyes, press your pinkie finger/brush into the lightest color of the palette and then press your pinkie/brush into the inner side corner of your eye. This is the major makeup artist’s secret for making eyes appear wider and more awake.
