Stroke is a common disease and it is estimated that over 100,000 women under the age of 65 have the possibility to have a stroke. It’s a dangerous disease after all, how would you able to know if you could have symptoms of it? Would you able to recognize if you develop stroke? According to the director of the stroke program at MedStar Georgetown, Dr Andrew Stemer “In the stroke field, they say ‘time is brain’

Stroke symptoms should be known as there is a longer period of time to seek treatment after experiencing it. If you take more time for the treatment, there could be a permanent damage that could occur. In order to be on the safe side, you should know and catch the symptoms of strokes as early as possible.

According to Dr Stemer “If there’s any sudden onset of a new neurological symptom that affects one side of the body, then I would go to the emergency room right away,” he further says “It may be a migraine or something else that’s benign, but the problem is, if you don’t go in, then you’ll have missed your opportunity to really treat the stroke.”

Following are seven-stroke symptoms in women that require immediate medical attention:

  1. You feel weak or numb on one side of your body

The common stroke symptom could be suddenly losing strength or being unable to feel a limb on one side of your body. Especially when you feel this element of losing strength in your arms and legs. According to Dr Stemer “Why just on one side of the body? Because, as the American Stroke Association explains, each side of your brain affects the opposite side of your body. So, if you have bleeding on the right side of your brain, the left side of your body will show symptoms”
