There are some people that have fair skin colors and are born with freckles and the skin melanin clusters are clumped closely together rather than evenly spread out on your skin. The type of skin is quite sensitive to UV light and prone to sunburn. This skin type is also very dangerous as it can cause skin cancer, therefore, protection is essential.
Some people are born with dark skin color who tends to get pigmentation and when you age it becomes raised with the change in size, color, and shape.

- Then there’s the sun
Sun could be the factor that causes pigmentation as you can get sprinkling freckles on your skin after exposure to the sun. But it eventually fades away in winter. UV damage does become visible until you get older and freckles may become permanent.

- Blame it on your hormones
The causes of pigmentation may include some issues with your hormones. There is a hormone named Melasma that is the catchall that causes excessive pigmentation. This could eventually appear on your skin when you intake birth control pills or during pregnancy.
- Inflammation information
Inflammation can also cause pigmentation as Post-Inflammatory Pigmentation (PIH) that is very common in people who have dealt with eczema, acne, dermatitis, and Addison’s disease. Pigmentation can also be caused by in taking certain antibiotics or cancer drugs.

- The opposite extreme
It might be possible that sometimes you may get the opposition to pigmentation and freckles such as patches of skin completely lack melanin or have decreased melanocytes. This condition can cause several systematic disorders such as vitiligo that could result due to prolonged, chronic, inflammation or even by skin damage.
