Some like it in hot, some in cold, and also in lukewarm.  Lemon water has secured a high reputation as the overachieving beverage with which we all should start our morning. Some people say that by drinking lemon water you can achieve a good health which promotes indigestion, detoxifies from inside, and balances the body’s pH levels. Other people claim that lemon water brightens the skin while bolstering the immune system. There are some people who also believe that water along with lemon can help in weight loss.

As lemon water is such a cheap and simple to make at home. Can it live up to the hype? We asked certain dieticians’ to break down the authentic benefits of lemon water.

WHAT DOES THE LEMON WATER REALLY DELIVER?

Dehydration can slow down your metabolic rate and would let your body to gain weight but by incorporating lemon-water into your diet can work wonder. Lemon-water is linked to weight loss happens when people use it to replace high-calorie diet or beverages such as soda or fruit juice. Dehydration can also slow down your brain function which eventually reduces your energy level and allows brain fog to set in. You can determine this by your color of urine if it is dark yellow or clear then you are probably hydrated. But if it is dark yellow then you definitely need to drink more and more water.

Lemon contains Vitamin C and vitamin C is really beneficial if you have a deficiency to the poor immune system. Women need 75 milligrams of vitamin C per day but a slice of lemon juice only has one mg of vitamin C. Lemon is also beneficial to fight cancer and it detoxifies the body and through acidity, and alters blood pH.

Some people face trouble while staying hydrated then you can at least try to cut back on high calories drinks and instead try lemon water. Also, drinking lemon water in large amount can cause burning sensation in your stomach and can initiate the symptoms of acid reflux or heartburn.

Bottom Line: If you like the taste of lemon water then go ahead and add some lemon to your morning glass of water. But do not expect it to yield miracles.
