Saudi Arabia’s first ever Arab Fashion Week will take place in Riyadh in March. The Dubai-based Arab Fashion Council made the announcement on Monday. The second edition of Arab Fashion Week is already scheduled for October. Recently we came across the news of Saudi Arabia’s first ever Arab Fashion Week. As announced by the Dubai-based Arab Fashion Council on Monday the Arab Fashion Week will be held in Riyadh in March.
For the first time in history, Saudi Arabia is all set to host the Arab Fashion Week in March, that will be overturning decades of draconian policies on arts and entertainment. The Saudi Prince Mohammad Bin Salman is not focusing on women empowerment and expanding the private sector along with this, on the other hand, the powerful heir to the Saudi throne has been leading a drive to reform the country’s dependence on oil.
The Dubai-based Arab Council announced that the fashion week will take place from March 26 to March 31 and the second schedule for the shoe has already being announced for October.
The venue of the first ever Arab Fashion week is designed by the late celebrated Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid and it will take place at Riyadh eco-friendly Apex Centre, that is a white honeycomb.

In the month of December, the Arab Fashion Council announced the opening of a regional office in Riyadh and it was named on Saudi Princess Noura Bint Faisal Al-Saud as the honorary president. It is being said that the first Arab Fashion Week that will be held in Riyadh, is going to be a world-class event, it works as a catalyst, through which they can focus on economic sectors such as hospitality, tourism, trade, and travel that is what said by Princess Noura said on the council’s website.

The Arab Fashion Week will be held twice a year as international fashion week along with Paris and Milan Arab Fashion Week offers exclusively see-now-buy-now collections and pre-collections. The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Bin Salman talks about including empowering women as one of his key tactics to reduce the countries reliance on oil.

Recently in this month, a senior Saudi cleric made a statement about Saudi women to not to force them to wear abayas. The comment was made by Sheikh Abdullah al-Mutlak, a member of the Council of Scholars — the kingdom’s highest religious body.The government has not said whether it will change the law.
Prince Mohammed is favouring women as he has introduced series of reforms in past months for women. Saudi Arabia also incorporated the concept of driving of man as they announced an end to a longstanding ban on women driving that will take off in June.
In the past, Arab Fashion Week have been hosted so far exclusively by Gulf fashion capital Dubai and have included runway darlings Marchesa and Tony Ward. Dubai will continue to host its own parallel Arab Fashion Week, with the sixth edition slotted for May 9 to May 12.
